Commenting on Parliamentary questions that reveal the Southern General Hospital is not expected to be built until 2016, two years later than planned, Liberal Democrat MSP for Glasgow Robert Brown said:
"This is quite atrocious. The Scottish Government's explanations for this long delay are entirely unconvincing.
"The Southern General Hospital project has been at the stocks for years and it is badly needed. It is quite intolerable that we will have more years of old hospital buildings no longer fit for purpose.
"It remains to be seen how solid the new date is. We will be monitoring the progress of the Southern General Hospital carefully. There must be no further delays."
