Western Isles Lib Dem PPC Jean Davis today spoke of her support for Calmac's decision to introduce a Sunday ferry sailing between Stornoway and Ullapool.

'I welcome today's announcement of the introduction of a Sunday sailing between Lewis and the mainland. It will allow families divided by the Minch to spend more time together and will I hope encourage young islanders to visit home more frequently.'

'The decision by Calmac to introduce a single sailing has I believe taken note of the wishes of many people here who wish to travel on Sunday whilst being sympathetic to those who have expressed concerns.'

'This Sunday will be a busy day in Stornoway at the end of one of the busiest weeks of the year and I hope that all will go smoothly. It is not a day for grandstanding or for demonstrations so lets let those who wish to travel do so and those who do not to go about their business in their usual way.'

'I believe the introduction of seven day sailing will bring future advantage to Lewis. This Sunday let us all show that the leaving and returning of the Isle of Lewis can be achieved efficiently and with respect for all residents.'
