Commenting on the publication of the Scottish Government's National Food and Drink Policy, Orkney MSP and Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs spokesman, Liam McArthur, said: "The SNP Government's fanfare over the publication of this strategy doesn't hide the fact that it is long overdue and lacking in detail.
"The food industry is of huge value to the Scottish economy. However, without more effective measures to address the decline in sheep and cattle numbers across Scotland it seems inconceivable that Ministers will be able to achieve their target of growing Scotland's food industry."
