George Lyon, top Liberal Democrat Euro candidate, was joined by the Fife Liberal Democrat team on a visit to Parsons Peebles Generation manufacturing firm in Rosyth as the campaign for the European elections enters its final week.George Lyon
Parsons Peebles is fighting back against Labour's recession. The highly skilled electrical manufacturing company exports products all over the world and is investing the training and skills that will help Scotland to grow out of the economic downturn stronger.
Commenting after meeting the workers, Mr Lyon said:
"Fife firms are fighting back against Labour's recession. Breaking down trade barriers with our European neighbours ensures that Scottish business gets the best deal they can.
"Liberal Democrats will continue to fight for better regulation in Europe, cutting unnecessary red tape so more Scottish businesses like Parsons Peebles can flourish."
Local MP Willie Rennie said:
"While many small and medium size businesses struggle to get credit from the banks we must use Europe to our advantage.
"The SNP Government has so far refused to access the money available at the European investment bank that has already injected £150million into the Welsh economy.
"Scottish businesses need help now and deserve better than the dithering of the SNP."
Sir Ming Campbell MP added:
"It is clear that this is the type of business has taken the right steps to weather the economic storm.
"For business to prosper a stable climate must be created which will secure the jobs that are vital for the Fife economy."
