Commenting on the news that the Dunfermline Building Society is to be put on the market by the UK Government, local Liberal Democrat MSP for Dunfermline West Jim Tolson said:
"This is a real blow for the local community.
"The Scottish and UK Governments were meant to work together to keep this business alive. It now looks like they have failed to do this.
"Ministers must commit to doing everything possible to safeguard the jobs and front line services that will be at risk if the Dunfermline does collapse."
